Silver Medal Award

honoring

DeeAnn Budge, Executive Director

AAF-Utah

The Silver Medal is the highest honor the advertising profession awards to a member, recognizing a lifetime of achievement. AAF-Utah is proud to honor our executive director, DeeAnn Budge. The award is presented to advertising professionals who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in all areas of social concern.

As the longest serving executive director of AAF-Utah, DeeAnn has done more to shape the organization than any other single individual. For 29 years she has served, nurtured, cajoled and guided 29 different presidents and boards of directors through their roles since she agreed to help the club for “a few years” back in 1980. As a result of her encouragement and support, many AAF-Utah former presidents have become leaders in District 12, the Western Region and the national Council of Governors. DeeAnn also has had a major role in contributing to the planning and execution of District 12.

At the AAF national convention in June 2001, DeeAnn was awarded the Betty Riehl Excellence in Service Award by the American Advertising Federation.

Taking a cash-strapped ad club and building a financially sound federation was just one of DeeAnn’s accomplishments. During her tenure, she has seen AAF-Utah recognized by AAF as Club of the Year three times, has gained the appreciation of the entire state from the yearly public service projects, has assisted in elevating the annual ADDY® Awards program to a high-profile event and has helped oversee the doubling of the membership.

A native of Utah, DeeAnn graduated from Utah State University with a composite degree in elementary education and child development. Following graduation, she taught in the public schools for 12 years, and then she discovered the world of advertising.

DeeAnn and her husband, Bill, have one daughter and two grandsons. When she is away from the office, she enjoys spending time on a golf course, traveling and in the garden.
